This 3-month assignment has potential for permanent placement. Responsibilities include collecting and storing specimens per procedures, explaining procedures to patients, ensuring correct labeling, and complying with OSHA/DEP regulations.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required.
• Minimum of 5 work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain venipuncture and specimen collection processes clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate phlebotomy techniques using straight and butterfly needles.
• Understand all physicians' orders and match requisition forms to specimens.
• Package specimens for transport and store them correctly to maintain integrity.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone calls and communicate lab results as needed.
