Job summary

Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO is seeking a Phlebotomist to join our team and perform specimen collection, labeling, and data entry across multiple departments. You will greet patients, collect blood and other specimens, and assist with clerical duties while collaborating with Nursing staff.

This role supports hospital operations in a busy, patient-focused setting. The ideal candidate will have a phlebotomy course, clinical internship, and at least 1 year of experience, with

Qualifications

• Graduate of Phlebotomy Course/Program required.
• Phlebotomy certification highly preferred, but can obtain once hired.
• One year of experience needed for interview consideration.
• MINIMUM 8-10 sticks per hour.
• Must have open availability for weekends for PRN.
• Hospital experience is highly preferred.
• Phlebotomy internship desirable.
• Larger facility experience desirable.
• Looking for trainable candidates with good experience and the ability to work as a team.
• Six months computer keyboarding or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• You will greet patients and instruct them in proper specimen collection methods.
• You will draw blood specimens from patients by using finger sticks, heel sticks or venipunctures and collect other specimens as required.
• You will label specimens for identification purposes accurately and enter specimen data into the computer.
• You will prepare samples for microbiology, hematology, serology, blood bank, and urinalysis departments.
• You will assist with clerical duties by answering telephone calls.
• Will work closely with Nursing staff.
