Job summary

Responsibilities

• Phlebotomy technique, venipuncture, micro collection, blood cultures, therapeutic phlebotomy, Blood Bank specimens.
• Ensures positive patient identification and prioritizes phlebotomy duties for efficiency.
• Responds to changes in work schedules and volumes.
• Uses time effectively when workloads are light.
• Answers phones to schedule tests and handles stat draw requests.
• Directs calls to appropriate area or person.
• Enters information into LIS and HIS, registers patients into HIS.
• Updates demographics and insurance information.
• Orders test information, prints labels and labels specimens.
• Maintains equipment and inventory of supplies.
• Keeps patient drawing area clean and organized.
• Educates new employees and reinforces safety practices.
