Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
• Minimum of 5 work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum 1 year of experience in phlebotomy

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.
• Demonstrate technique using straight and butterfly needles.
• Fully understand physician orders for each test.
• Match requisition forms to specimens and ensure proper labeling.
• Package specimens for transport and store them correctly.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and participate in trainings.
• Answer calls and relay lab results as needed.
