Job summary

Trinity Health Oakland in Pontiac, MI seeks a phlebotomist for inpatient and outpatient specimen collection. You will perform venipuncture and adhere to all lab handling policies, rotating between outpatient labs as needed.

The role requires a high school diploma, completion of a phlebotomy program or MA/CNA training, and current certification (AMT/ASCP/NCPT/NCCT). A Heart Saver certification is also required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of Medical Assistant/Certified Nursing Assistant or Phlebotomy program or equivalent.
• Two year college degree in biological science or health related field, preferred.
• Current cert: AMT/ASCP/NCPT/NCCT; see cert requirements.
• Heart Saver (HS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood samples using phlebotomy techniques and follow policies for handling blood specimens.
• Recognize factors affecting collection and test results (order of draw, timed specimens).
• Proficient in vacutainer, syringe, butterfly, and capillary methods.
• Rotate to outpatient labs and respond to department needs (pager, staffing, stats).
• Maintain equipment and work area; perform duties with minimal supervision.
