Job summary

Advocate Health Care in Macon, GA is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform blood collections and ensure proper specimen handling. You will identify patients, prepare specimens, and work with a dedicated healthcare team to support adult and geriatric patients. Pediatric exposure is a plus.

Qualifications include a phlebotomy course or 6 months' experience, HS diploma, and eligibility for phlebotomy certification. Excellent communication and attention to detail are essential for success.

Qualifications

Must have completed a phlebotomy training course or 6 months phlebotomy experience in a hospital or patient care setting.
Must be eligible for phlebotomy certification.
High school diploma or GED required.
Phlebotomy training or experience demonstrated in clinical setting.
Excellent patient-care and communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and teamwork.

Responsibilities

Collect patient blood by venipuncture or capillary puncture promptly and accurately.
Use vacutainer tubes, butterflies, syringes, and needles for blood draws.
Perform heel sticks with micro lancets and capillary pipettes.
Verify patient name and DOB against lab orders and record accurately.
Determine proper container type and deliver specimens to the lab.
Provide phone support for patient care areas.
Maintain competency with hospital and lab information systems.
Train new teammates or students on standard work processes.
Adhere to PPE, regulatory requirements, and SOPs.
Participate in meetings and performance improvement activities.
