Job summary

True North Consultants, Inc. seeks a Phlebotomist for a contract role in Woodbridge, VA. The position runs 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday to Friday, with alternating Saturdays, and offers a pathway to permanency.

Responsibilities include performing venipuncture, labeling and processing specimens, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with OSHA/DEP regulations. Requires phlebotomy certification and basic IT skills.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Properly explains the venipuncture process and other specimen collection to patients.
• Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all physicians' orders and matching requisition forms to specimens.
• Package specimens for transport and store samples per protocol.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual trainings.
• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
