Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification required; state-specific requirements may apply.
• Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.
• Demonstrate technique with straight or butterfly needles.
• Understand physicians' orders and ensure correct specimen handling.
• Match requisition forms to specimens and ensure label accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport and maintain specimen integrity.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations; attend trainings.
• Answer calls and relay laboratory results as needed.
