Qualifications

• Valid phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens and recording maintenance data.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures and explains venipuncture to patients.
• Demonstrates technique using straight and butterfly needles.
• Match laboratory requisitions to specimen tubes and label, centrifuge, split and freeze specimens as required.
• Package specimens for transport and store samples according to required temperature.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
