Job summary

ExcelliSearch, Inc. seeks a Phlebotomist for a contract role in Farmville, VA, with potential to convert to permanent. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm, with an initial duration of about 3 months and possible permanent placement. Job code CVDJP00036133. Benefits are available.

Responsibilities include performing blood draws, labeling and centrifuging specimens, maintaining data, and ensuring specimen integrity according to established procedures. OSHA/ DEP regulations must be followed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
• High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and properly label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
• Ensure accuracy of test requisitions or computer labels against scripts; package specimens for transport.
• Store specimens per required temperatures and regulatory protocols; comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department trainings and respond to inquiries from callers about results.
