Job summary

Ashton North LLC in Baltimore, MD is seeking a Phlebotomist for a contract role with potential for permanent hire. The position runs Mon-Fri 8:30am-5pm with one Saturday per month 8:00am-2:30pm. The assignment is projected for 3 months with possible extension.

The ideal candidate has 2-4 years of diagnostic phlebotomy experience across pediatric to geriatric patients, valid certification, and proficiency with blood draws, specimen labeling, and maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.
• Demonstrate technique with straight or butterfly needles.
• Understand physicians' orders and match requisitions to specimens.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Check test requisitions against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport and store samples properly.
