Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
• Minimum of 5 work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting
• High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explains the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and butterfly needles.
• Understand physician orders and ensure accuracy of requisitions and labels.
• Package specimens for transport and handle storage per protocol to maintain specimen integrity.
• Attend annual department trainings and respond to inquiries via phone or results readouts.
