Job summary

Software Placement Group (SPG) is seeking a Phlebotomist for a 3-month contract in Overland Park, KS and surrounding PSCs in Kansas and Missouri. You will perform blood draws, label and process specimens, and ensure accurate collection while supporting multiple sites.

The role requires state phlebotomy certification, 2+ years' experience, pediatric and geriatric exposure, and reliable transportation. On-site duties include travel between PSCs with mileage reimbursement and benefits.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required in some states.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience; 2+ years of experience required
• Pediatric and geriatric experience
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• High School Diploma or GED
• Clean driving record and reliable transportation

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data.
• Update patient information and collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture and other specimen collection processes to patients.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand and follow physicians' orders.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport, storing samples at required temperatures and following protocol-specific procedures.
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
• Float to patient service centers in Kansas and Missouri as needed.
