Job summary

The Cancer & Hematology Centers in Flint, MI is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our compassionate team. You will perform venipunctures and finger sticks, accurately identify patients, and prepare, label, and manage specimens in a fast-paced lab setting.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalent; Medical Assistant degree preferred; at least two years of related work experience; and familiarity with medical terminology.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Medical Assistant Degree preferred.
• Two years related work experience.
• Medical terminology extremely helpful.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipunctures and finger sticks in accordance with policies.
• Identify patients and properly label and handle specimens.
• Determine and draw the proper collection tubes for tests.
• Monitor phlebotomy supplies and notify manager when replenishing.
• Enter new patients into LIS and properly order tests.
• Designate in system where send out tests are sent.
• Print and fax reports through system.
• Maintain a safe working environment per safety policies.
• Report unsafe conditions to the safety officer.
• Keep phlebotomy area clean and well stocked.
• Assist the medical technologist with various tasks as applicable.
• All other duties as assigned.
