Job summary

The Willamette Valley Cancer Institute and Research Center in Eugene, OR is seeking a Phlebotomist to join our laboratory team. You will collect blood and other specimens with a primary focus on venipuncture, while delivering a compassionate patient experience.

Entry-level role; no prior experience required. High school diploma or equivalent is required; licensure is recommended. Employment is full-time with benefits including medical, dental, life insurance and a 401(k).

Qualifications

• Licensure from an accredited school of phlebotomy recommended.
• Current state licensure if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and collects specimens from patients, with focus on venipuncture.
• Maintains proper documentation per QA program, including logs and records.
• Maintains adequate inventory of supplies and ensures viability of materials.
• Sends specimens to reference laboratories for tests not performed in-house.
• Processes in-house and incoming laboratory reports and orders.
• Maintains daily paperwork, lab logs and maintenance logs.
• Operates designated laboratory equipment and maintains the work area.
• Performs waived lab testing under CLIA guidelines and records controls.
• Complies with OSHA and universal precautions.
• Disposes of hazardous materials properly.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient and staff information.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
