Job Title: Phlebotomist, Ambulatory at WakeMed

Overview

The Clinical Services Technician collects pathology specimens at free-standing Ambulatory Care Centers. Responsibilities include:

1. Registration, processing, and allocation of laboratory specimens and orders from all sources.
2. Verification of proper patient/specimen identification and appropriateness of specimens and accompanying orders.
3. Organizing laboratory workflow and prioritizing specimen processing and transport.
4. Maintaining a clean work environment and proper PAR levels of supplies.
5. Utilizing equipment, instruments, and computer systems to test requests, accession, label, and package specimens to ensure integrity for courier delivery.
6. Performing specified procedures within scope of established testing methods.
7. Performing POCT, documenting routine maintenance and quality control, troubleshooting as needed.
8. Managing patient wait times and expectations through effective communication.
9. Demonstrating service excellence with friendly and professional customer interactions.
10. Updating knowledge and skills, maintaining required competencies.
11. Working independently and as part of a team, with periodic supervisory review.
12. Performing other duties as assigned.

Licensure

Phlebotomy preferred.

Education
