The Clinical Services Technician collects pathology specimens at free-standing Ambulatory Care Centers. Responsible for the registration, processing, and allocation of laboratory specimens and orders from all sources. Ensures proper patient and specimen identification, and verifies the appropriateness of specimens and accompanying orders.
Organizes laboratory workflow, prioritizes processing and preparation of specimens for transport, and maintains a clean and orderly work environment with proper PAR levels of supplies, while remaining fiscally responsible. Utilizes equipment, instruments, and computer systems to test requests, accession, label, and package specimens to ensure integrity during delivery via courier to the laboratory.
Performs procedures within the scope of established testing methods, including POCT, and documents routine maintenance and quality control. Troubleshoots equipment as needed. Manages patient wait times and expectations using computer systems and clear communication. Demonstrates service excellence by acknowledging customers professionally, actively listening, responding with empathy, and maintaining a professional appearance and behavior.
Updates knowledge and skills regularly and maintains age-specific and other required competencies. Works independently and as part of a team, with supervision as needed. Performs additional duties as assigned.
