Job summary

Sanford Health in Bemidji, MN seeks an experienced phlebotomist to collect and manage blood and specimen samples from patients in hospital, clinic, and nursing home settings. You will ensure patient safety, document information accurately, and follow aseptic procedures throughout phlebotomy.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, completion of a phlebotomy program, and familiarity with medical terminology; BLS certification may be required.

Qualifications

Job Description

Collects and manages samples of blood and specimens from patients; ensures patient safety during the sample collection process. Records and documents patient information accurately. Follows all standard procedures and safety regulations; deploys asepsis techniques during phlebotomy procedures. Communicates with patients, collecting their health information and answering their questions regarding phlebotomy procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or General Educational Development Diploma (GED) required.
• Previous work experience in a medical setting is beneficial.
• Basic knowledge of human anatomy and medical terminology.
• Completion of a formal phlebotomy program, phlebotomy experience, and experience in a laboratory-related field preferred.
• May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
