Job summary

Lee's Summit Medical Center is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform blood collection and specimen processing under supervision. You will greet patients, collect samples via venipuncture or capillary methods, label specimens, and ensure accurate data entry in the laboratory information system.

Responsibilities include preparing samples for microbiology, hematology, serology, blood bank and urinalysis; plus assisting with clerical duties and maintaining compliance with hospital standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Phlebotomy Course required.
• If phlebotomy program has not been completed, then must have one-year experience in a medical laboratory.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and instruct them in proper specimen collection methods.
• Draw blood specimens via finger sticks, heel sticks or venipunctures.
• Label specimens accurately and enter data into the computer.
• Prepare samples for microbiology, hematology, serology, blood bank and urinalysis.
