Job summary

Essenti Talent in Gahanna, OH is seeking a contract Phlebotomist to support the lab team for 3 to 4 months. Schedule includes 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM on Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri and 8:30 AM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, on-site in Gahanna.

Responsibilities include performing blood draws, labeling and processing specimens, recording maintenance data, and ensuring specimens are stored correctly. Minimum 1 year of experience required; benefits are available.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of phlebotomy experience.
• Experience with venipuncture and specimen labeling.
• Ability to follow procedures and maintain accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture and/or other specimen collection.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all physician orders.
• Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correct. Package specimens for transport.
• Stores specimen sample according to required temperature, places samples.

Summary: The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, trouble shooting, training and making work flow recommendations.

Position Responsibilities:

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and or other specimen collection (ex. urine or fecal) as required.
• Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all of the physicians' orders.
• Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
