Job summary

Vogrinc Search Group in Ohio is seeking a Phlebotomist for a contract role in Gahanna. The candidate will perform blood draws, label and handle specimens, and assist with processing while following established procedures.

The position requires a minimum of 1 year of experience, with a schedule of 8:30am–5:00pm (Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri) and 8:30am–8:00pm (Thu). Benefits are available for this contract role.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience required.
• Experience performing blood draws and specimen handling.
• Ability to follow procedures for labeling and processing specimens.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Properly explains the venipuncture process and other specimen collection as required.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all physicians' orders.
• Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Stores specimen sample according to required temperature, places samples.

Summary: The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, trouble shooting, training and making work flow recommendations.

Position Responsibilities:

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and or other specimen collection (ex. urine or fecal) as required.
• Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all of the physicians' orders.
• Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correct. Package specimens for transport.
• Stores specimen sample according to required temperature, places samples.
