Job summary

Job Juncture is seeking a phlebotomist to support pediatric and geriatric patients. The role involves blood draws, specimen labeling, and processing, with float assignments across Portland, Beaverton and Gresham. A clean driving record and reliable transportation are required.

Pay ranges from $20 to $23 per hour with benefits available. Hours are between 6am and 6pm, M-F, with float shifts and varying hours.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain venipuncture and specimen collection clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate technique with straight or butterfly needles.
• Understand physicians' orders and align with them.
• Match requisition forms to specimens; label, centrifuge, split and freeze as needed.
• Check test requisitions against scripts to ensure accuracy; package specimens for transport.
• Store specimen samples at required temperatures.

Summary: The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, trouble shooting, training and making work flow recommendations.

Position Responsibilities:

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and or other specimen collection (ex. urine or fecal) as required.
• Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all of the physicians' orders.
• Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correct. Package specimens for transport.
• Stores specimen sample according to required temperature, places samples
