Top Echelon Software, LLC is seeking a phlebotomist for a contracted assignment in Portland, OR. The position is a float role with hours from 6am to 6pm, Monday through Friday, covering Portland, Gresham, and nearby areas. Mileage is reimbursed and a clean driving record is required.

The successful candidate will have blood-drawing experience, plus pediatric and geriatric exposure. Training and workflow recommendations may be part of the job scope.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years of phlebotomy experience.
• Pediatric and geriatric experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge, and document maintenance data as required.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain venipuncture procedures clearly and courteously to patients.
• Match requisition forms to specimens, label, centrifuge, and prepare for testing.
• Store specimens at required temperatures and ensure proper packaging for transport.

Description:

Summary:

The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, trouble shooting, training and making work flow recommendations.

Position Responsibilities:

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and or other specimen collection (ex. urine or fecal) as required.
• Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all of the physicians’ orders.
• Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correct. Package specimens for transport.
• Stores specimen sample according to required temperature, places samples
