Job summary

Keystone Distinction Group in Vancouver WA seeks a Phlebotomist to support blood collection and specimen processing. Responsibilities include blood draws, labeling, centrifuging, and maintaining accurate patient data, with an emphasis on safety and workflow efficiency.

This contract position runs about 3 months with potential for permanent hire. Schedule is 5am-1:30pm, Monday through Friday, with weekends and holidays as required; benefits are available.

Qualifications

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explains venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients as required.
• Demonstrates technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Understands physicians' orders and ensures accuracy.
• Matches requisition forms to specimens and packages as required.
• Stores specimen samples according to required temperature and handling.

minimum 5 - 7 + years experience required

The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, trouble shooting, training and making work flow recommendations.

Position Responsibilities:

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.


• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.


• Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and or other specimen collection (ex. urine or fecal) as required.


• Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.


• Fully understand all of the physicians' orders.


• Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.


• Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correct. Package specimens for transport.


• Stores specimen sample according to required temperature, places samples
