Job summary

Talent Match Recruiting in Vancouver, WA is seeking a contract phlebotomist to assist with blood draws, labeling, and specimen processing. The position is a float, with hours 6am–6pm, M-F, and may require travel to Portland, Beaverton and Gresham. Mileage is reimbursed and a clean driving record is required.

The assignment lasts about 3 months with a pay rate of $20–$23 per hour. A high school diploma or GED and 2 years of phlebotomy experience are required, including pediatric and geriatric

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain venipuncture steps clearly to patients in a courteous manner.
• Match requisitions to specimen tubes, label, centrifuge, and package specimens as required.
• Check test requisitions against scripts to ensure accuracy and transport specimens properly.

Description:

Summary: The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, trouble shooting, training and making work flow recommendations.

Position Responsibilities:
Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and or other specimen collection (ex. urine or fecal) as required.
Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
Fully understand all of the physicians' orders.
Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correct. Package specimens for transport.
Stores specimen sample according to required temperature, places samples
