Job summary

OSF HealthCare in Peoria, IL is seeking a Phlebotomist for weekends only. You will collect blood and other specimens from inpatients, outpatients, and clinic patients, label specimens, and transport to the laboratory while ensuring aseptic technique and patient identification.

This role requires a high school diploma, CPR and Phlebotomy Technician Certification, plus strong interpersonal and computer skills. Training is provided; orientation lasts several weeks.

Expected pay for this position is $17.66 - $19.63/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

Weekends Only The Phlebotomist obtains blood and other specimens from inpatients, outpatients, ED patients, extended care facility patients, physician office patients, clinic patients, and any other offsite location patients for laboratory testing according to licensed physician’s or provider’s orders. In doing so, obtains needed supplies, verifies patient identification, prepares skin sites, and performs venipuncture and skin punctures according to established aseptic techniques. Labels specimens and transports same to laboratory for analysis. Performs clerical and/or computer duties associated with the laboratory. Duties may vary by assigned area and/or shift.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

• High School/GED

Other skills/knowledge:

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience:

• Completion of formal structured phlebotomy program OR 3 months’ full-time phlebotomy experience or equivalent 6 months customer service experience.

License/Certifications:

• CPR Certification.
• Phlebotomy Technician Certification (PBT).
