Salary and Benefits

Salary Range: $18.00-$24.00, based on factors like education, experience, and certifications.

Scope

Under supervision, responsible for specimen collection and processing, adhering to quality and safety policies, assisting with patient flow, and supporting compliance and ethics standards.

Essential Duties

1. Performs phlebotomy and collects specimens as ordered, ensuring pre-authorizations and consents are completed.
2. Maintains documentation, inventory, and proper specimen handling, including sending samples to reference labs.
3. Processes lab orders, reports, and maintains logs.
4. Properly identifies patients for blood transfusions and labels specimens accordingly.
5. Operates lab equipment and performs waived testing under CLIA guidelines, maintaining records of controls and reagents.
6. Follows regulatory standards, OSHA laws, and disposes of hazardous materials properly.
7. Maintains confidentiality of patient and staff information.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of experience required. High school diploma or equivalent recommended. Licensure from an accredited school of phlebotomy is preferred.

Physical and Work Environment

Must meet physical demands including body motion, manual dexterity, and lifting up to 40 lbs. Work involves exposure to blood, body fluids, chemicals, and infectious agents, with accommodations available for disabilities.

All candidates must pass a background check and drug test prior to employment.
