Job summary

Pana Community Hospital in Pana, IL is seeking a full-time Phlebotomist to perform venipuncture and specimen collection across age groups. You will ensure accurate labeling, patient safety, and adherence to hospital policies, while maintaining a clean phlebotomy area and supporting the Laboratory team.

The role requires national phlebotomy certification, CPR, a high school diploma, and prior phlebotomy experience, along with solid communication and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and specimen collection for neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
• Provide compassionate, professional, and courteous patient care while ensuring patient comfort.
• Verify patient identification and ensure accurate collection, labeling, handling, and distribution of specimens.
• Follow established hospital and laboratory policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, and properly stocked phlebotomy area.
• Assist patients with timed and sterile urine collections and perform throat cultures using proper techniques.
• Demonstrate knowledge of blood collection procedures, needles, anticoagulants, and special specimen handling requirements.
• Work collaboratively with laboratory staff to support efficient workflow, quality patient care, and timely laboratory services.
