Job summary

Quest Diagnostics Employer Solutions seeks a Phlebotomist II in Dekalb, IL for three schedules: 40 hours Mon-Fri 11:00 AM–7:30 PM with weekends; 30 hours 8:15 AM–4:00 PM; 22 hours 8:00 AM–12:00 PM.

Pay range is $23.20–$24.90 per hour with potential shift differentials and performance bonus eligibility.

Qualifications

  • Three years of phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience.
  • Flexible and available based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call and overtime.
  • Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record, if applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens and biometric screening.
  • Administer oral solutions according to training.
  • Research test/client information and verify orders using lab systems and approved tools.
  • Navigate computer systems and accurately enter data.
  • Obtain identification and enter billing information, collecting payments when required.
  • Process specimens including labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing, and preparing for transport.
  • Perform non-patient facing duties such as inventory, stocking, sanitizing, filing, and managing emails.
  • Read and comply with departmental policies, protocols and procedures.
  • Assist with statistics submission and maintain phlebotomy logs.
  • Complete training courses timely.

Phlebotomist II - Dekalb, IL Three Schedules Available 40 hours - Monday to Friday, Between the hours of 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM. with rotational weekends
30 hours - Monday to Friday, Between the hours of 8:15 AM - 4:00 PM, with rotational weekends
22 hours - Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with rotational weekends

Pay range: $23.20 - $24.90 / hour; employee may be eligible to receive shift differential of 10% for some or all hours worked on second shift and 15% for some or all hours worked on third shift. Additional details on shift differential will be provided if an offer is extended. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Job Accountabilities (Responsibilities)

  • Collect specimens according to established procedures.
  • This includes, but not limited to: drug screens, biometric screening and insurance exams.
  • Administer oral solutions according to established training.
  • Research test/client information and confirm and verify all written and electronic orders by utilizing lab technology systems, Client contact, and approved tools.
  • Ability to navigate a computer and accurately enter data is a requirement to be successful in this role.
  • Obtain identification and accurately enter billing information and collect payments when required, following corporate policies.
  • Processing specimens including: labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing and preparing for transport as required by test order.
  • Perform all non-patient facing duties, including inventory, stock supplies, sanitizing, filing, answering phones and utilizing email as appropriate.
  • Read, understand and comply with departmental policies, protocols and procedures.
  • Assist with compilation and submission of statistics and data when required.
  • Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner and based on frequency, such as maintenance logs and temperature logs.
  • Complete online and in person training courses timely.

Qualifications

Required Work Experience:

  • Three years of phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience.
  • Flexible and available based on staffing needs, which includes weekends, holidays, on-call and overtime.
  • Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record, if applicable.

Required Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred. Required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

The position requires the ability to effectively communicate in English.
