Job Description:

The Phlebotomist I is responsible for accurately collecting patient specimens for diagnostic testing in a professional medical environment. This role is part of a dynamic team, working in fast-paced hospital settings and high/low volume clinics. Caregivers will gain valuable experience to support career advancement.

Job Specifics:

  • PRN
  • Coverage across multiple sites between Bountiful and North Ogden

The Phlebotomist I performs specimen collection using techniques such as venipuncture, capillary puncture, PIVO, and throat swabs. They collect from patients of varying acuities, including outpatient, emergency, inpatient, newborns, and ICU patients, adhering to laboratory standards and safety regulations.

Intermountain caregivers communicate procedures with empathy and have opportunities to develop skills in patient registration, CODE team participation, training, specimen processing, and other lab responsibilities.

This position requires organizational skills, proficiency with computer systems, teamwork, and maintaining a safe environment. Candidates should be resilient and capable of managing stressful situations professionally.

Phlebotomist 1 Minimum Qualifications:

  • Basic Life Support certification (BLS)/RQI for healthcare providers
  • Ability to take on-call shifts as needed
  • Flexibility to work at multiple facilities
  • Adherence to PPE requirements in all settings

Phlebotomist 2 Minimum Qualifications:

  • Basic Life Support certification (BLS)/RQI
  • Experience with phlebotomy in clinical or hospital settings
  • Ability to work under stress in a team environment
  • Self-motivated and independent work skills
  • Flexibility for various shifts, including weekends and nights
  • Work at multiple facilities as needed
  • PPE adherence

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Six months of phlebotomy experience or approved training
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of phlebotomy training program
  • Teamwork under stressful conditions
  • Self-motivation and independence
  • Basic computer skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Verbal communication with patients and staff
  • Operate lab equipment and computers with precision
  • Read labels and monitors
  • Transport equipment while walking
  • Stand for long periods and perform bending tasks

The hourly rate ranges from $18.12 to $23.55, depending on experience.
