Medix is seeking a Phlebotomist I for an onsite role in Joliet, IL. You will perform high-volume blood draws across adult and pediatric patients, ensuring proper labeling and specimen handling in a fast-paced clinical environment.

The Phlebotomist I plays a vital role in our patient care ecosystem by executing safe, accurate, and efficient specimen collections in a high-volume clinical environment. Operating under the supervision of the Laboratory Leadership team, this position ensures seamless laboratory specimen processing while delivering an extraordinary patient experience.
Perform high-volume blood draws, blood specimen collections via venipuncture or capillary (finger stick) collection across adult and pediatric populations using standard aseptic protocols.
Adhere strictly to proper patient identification and specimen labeling procedures.
Execute specimen centrifugation, initial processing, preparation for transport, storage, and retrieval.
Generate patient demographic sheets and complete accompanying laboratory paperwork and labels.
Demonstrate clear phlebotomy techniques to gain patient cooperation and alleviate anxiety during collection.
Exercise critical judgment to assess and manage adverse patient reactions (e.g., syncope, dizziness) and notify clinical leadership immediately.
Maintain strict HIPAA compliance and preserve patient confidentiality at all times.
Ensure a clean, safe workspace complying with OSHA and regulatory body standards, including appropriate disposal of sharps and biological waste.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Certifications: National Phlebotomy Certification (ASCP, AMT, NHA, NPA) preferred or required within 90 days of hire. Current CPR certification required.
Experience: Prior experience handling high-volume phlebotomy environments strongly preferred. Experience in outpatient lab settings or Point-of-Care (CLIA Waived) testing is a plus.
