Job summary

Duly Health and Care in Downers Grove, IL is seeking a Phlebotomist I to join a physician-led, patient-centered team. You will perform phlebotomy on diverse patient populations, maintain accurate labeling, and support specimen processing under supervision. Travel to other sites may be required.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • National Phlebotomy Certification or qualified to sit for phlebotomy certification exam preferred.
  • Prior phlebotomist experience or graduation from a certified phlebotomy school with healthcare work experience preferred.
  • Moderate knowledge of medical terminology and strong verbal/written communication preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform phlebotomy on adult and pediatric patients by venipuncture or finger stick using aseptic protocols and proper patient identification and labeling.
  • Monitor phone and voicemail messages as necessary.
  • Monitor collection supply inventory and order supplies as necessary.
  • Receive patients professionally and courteously using AIDET and patient experience tools.
  • Perform specimen centrifugation, processing, prepping for reference lab transport, storage and retrieval.
  • Utilize computer skills to access patient/testing information accurately.
  • Produce patient demographic sheets and prepare paperwork for specimens as needed.
  • Maintain a clean patient and working environment.
  • Perform other assigned duties as needed.

Position Highlights
  • Full-Time, 40 hours/week
  • Hours: Monday- Friday; Must be willing to work variable 8 hour shifts in between the hours of 7:00am-6pm. Every Other Saturday Required- 7:00am-1:00pm.
  • Location: Downers Grove. Travel Required.

Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Director, Manager or Supervisor, the Phlebotomist I performs Laboratory procedures in Phlebotomy and other Specimen Collections, Specimen Processing and/or any other General duties, as necessary, under the direction of a licensed laboratory supervisor. The Phlebotomist I presents a professional, courteous and respectful demeanor when engaging with patients, co-workers, other staff and general public.

Depending on Practice Site Requirements, not all duties listed may be performed. However, it is expected MOST duties will be performed. Travel to other sites may be required.

  • Perform phlebotomy on adult and pediatric patients by vascular access (venipuncture) or capillary collection (finger stick) using aseptic protocols, accurate patient identification and proper labeling procedures.

  • Produce patient demographic sheet and prepare additional paperwork to accompany specimens, as necessary
  • Maintain a clean patient and working environment.
  • Perform other assigned duties, as needed.
Education
  • High School graduate or equivalent required
  • National Phlebotomy Certification or qualified to sit for phlebotomy certification exam preferred
  • Prior experience as a Phlebotomist OR an equivalent combination of graduation from a certified phlebotomy school coupled with work experience in a healthcare field preferred.
  • Moderate knowledge of medical terminology, excellent verbal and written communication skills preferred.

The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $17.65-26.50, with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
