Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Amarillo, TX is seeking a dedicated phlebotomist to draw blood for analysis in a correctional hospital facility. You will schedule patients for laboratory services and EKG, collect specimens, and communicate results to ordering physicians.

Additional duties include HIV counseling and maintaining lab cleanliness and licensing in alignment with ACA standards. This role requires a high school diploma or GED with at least one year of related experience

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; and one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patients for laboratory services and EKG.
• Collect specimens, with CMPs being fasting, and provide results to ordering physician.
• Provide HIV post counseling for CID department and complete HIV pre-release testing.
• Collaborate with phlebotomists to maintain laboratory cleanliness per ACA standards.
• Maintain laboratory licensing and credentials to ensure compliance with policies.

Major/Essential Functions

• Schedule patients for laboratory services and EKG.
• Collect various specimens, with CMP's being fasting. Giving critical lab values or cultures to ordering physician.
• Provide HIV post counseling for CID department and complete HIV pre-release testing.
• Works with phlebotomist to maintain laboratory cleanliness in accordance with ACA standards
• Maintains laboratory licensing and credentials to ensure the lab is in compliance with operating standards as stated within policy.
