Job summary

Sanford Health in Aberdeen, SD is seeking a Phlebotomist to collect blood and other specimens from patients/residents and explain procedures. You will record information accurately and maintain asepsis throughout phlebotomy procedures.

This role requires clear communication and patient safety focus. High school diploma or GED is required; completion of a phlebotomy program and BLS certification are preferred.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

Uses equipment to collect samples of blood and other fluids from patients/residents; explains procedures to patients/residents and collects information from them in a professional manner. Collects and manages samples of blood and specimens from patients/residents; ensures patient/resident safety during the sample collection process. Records and documents patient/resident information accurately. Follows all standard procedures and safety regulations; deploys asepsis techniques during phlebotomy procedures. Communicates with patients/residents, collecting their health information and answering their questions regarding phlebotomy procedures.

Qualifications

High school diploma or General Educational Development Diploma (GED) required.

Completion of a formal phlebotomy program, phlebotomy experience, and experience in a laboratory-related field preferred. May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
