Responsibilities
- Faculty shall collaborate with the department curriculum committee and General Education course coordinators to develop curriculum, including creating syllabi, assignments, classroom activities, participating in faculty meetings and professional development, and providing data for assessment of outcomes.
- Demonstrate awareness of and address the needs of a diverse student population, including age, abilities, cultural background, ethnicity, religion, economic background, primary language, sexual orientation, gender identity, and academic preparation, through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement.
- Organize all classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
- Ensure that all classes are offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester or term, in the mode assigned and listed in the schedule of classes (i.e., asynchronous, synchronous, bichronous, in‑person, or hybrid).
Required Qualifications
- MA or higher degree in Philosophy or a related field, or ABD in a PhD program in Philosophy or a related field.
- Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population gained through cross‑cultural study, training, teaching, or comparable experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching university‑level philosophy courses to a diverse population.
- Experience teaching courses such as critical thinking, introduction to philosophy, contemporary moral issues, professional and business ethics, ancient philosophy, modern philosophy, Asian philosophy, etc.
- Experience developing and teaching online courses.
- Experience with professional development as demonstrated by participation in workshops, conferences, or research in the field.

Anticipated starting salary:
- L‑A / Range 2 – $5,507 – $5,959
- L‑B / Range 3 – $6,221 – $7,481
- L‑C / Range 4 – $6,825 – $9,431
- L‑D / Range 5 – $8,593 – $10,347
These salaries are the anticipated monthly rate for full‑time academic‑year faculty; part‑time rates are prorated. There are six monthly payments per semester (full‑time academic‑year salary = rate × 12). See the Faculty Salary Schedule for more information.
