The NFA Foundation is seeking a Philanthropy Officer. Reporting to the Executive Director, this role involves managing a portfolio of prospects and donors to increase individual support for Norwich Free Academy. Responsibilities include developing strategies for qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, as well as building lasting relationships within the alumni and donor community. The role promotes a positive culture of philanthropy and contributes to fundraising goals.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

1. Manage a prospect portfolio of 100 prospects rated at $5,000+. Develop and implement cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for each. Spend at least 75% of time on direct relationship development.
2. Qualify new donors systematically to assess their support capacity and interest, linking them to fundraising priorities and closing major gifts.
3. Create and execute annual reunion class strategies, working with alumni gift committees and conducting solicitations.
4. Achieve activity and outcome goals, including personal visits, proposals, and gift closures.
5. Collaborate with volunteers and campus leaders to identify new prospects.
6. Partner with the Foundation team for acknowledgment, recognition, and stewardship of gifts.
7. Maintain detailed records of strategies and progress in the NXT database.
8. Attend events to support cultivation and solicitation efforts.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Must be highly organized with strong communication skills. Proficiency in Windows-based software like Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge is required. A bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years of development experience, preferably in an independent school or college/university, and a proven ability to solicit high-end gifts is essential.
