Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a skilled Donor Relations professional to join our nonprofit client services team in California. This role focuses on donor relations, grant administration, and robust database management to support fundraising initiatives.

You will act as the primary contact for donors and grantees, manage fund operations, and coordinate cross-functional activities across Grants Management, Finance, Programs, and Marketing. Emphasis on process improvement and impeccable data integrity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of four years of related professional experience, including at least three years of database and donor-services experience.
  • Experience with Blackbaud software; willingness to learn additional systems.
  • Strong computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and database applications.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple demands and follow assignments through to completion.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer-service experience.
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to independently assess, compile, analyze, and communicate information.
  • Ability to identify opportunities to improve systems and processes.
  • Knowledge of the Los Angeles County nonprofit community, government agencies, elected officials, civic leadership, and diverse community constituencies.
  • Strong knowledge of grantmaking processes and the Los Angeles County nonprofit community.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, take initiative, and manage competing priorities.
  • Must reside in California.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for donors, funders, advisors, prospects, and grantees.
  • Respond to inquiries and provide timely support related to fund management, reporting, and grantmaking activities.
  • Manage donor and fund operations, including new fund setup, welcome materials, portal access, password resets, and online grantmaking support.
  • Manage the Donor Relations inbox and phone line, triage requests, and coordinate resolutions with internal teams.
  • Maintain accurate donor and fund information in Raiser’s Edge/Blackbaud.
  • Schedule meetings, prepare correspondence, process invoices and check requests, maintain files, coordinate travel, and assist with events.
  • Research prospective donors, advisors, nonprofits, and issue areas, including nonprofit programs and Form 990s.
  • Prepare research summaries for donor presentations.
  • Coordinate events and mailings, including invitations, RSVP lists, registration, name tags, collateral materials, onsite support, mailing lists, quarterly statements, and external mail houses.
  • Collaborate with Grants Management, Finance, Programs, Impact, Marketing and Communications, Accounting, and other internal teams.
  • Improve operational processes, database management, record keeping, and workflows.
  • Support Office of Philanthropy departmental goals and other organizational priorities.
