Job summary

The American Red Cross seeks a senior fundraising leader to drive a multi-year transformational giving program. You will identify, engage, cultivate, solicit, and steward high-net-worth donors across individuals, corporations, and foundations.

With a proven track record in large-scale campaigns and donor portfolio management, you will develop personalized asks, manage cross-functional teams, and report to the VP of Transformational Giving to maximize revenue growth and mission impact.

Job description

• Lead a multi-year transformational fundraising effort
• Identify, engage, cultivate, solicit, and steward new prospects and existing donors
• Develop personalized asks and proposals for prospective supporters
• Grow an assigned portfolio of individual donors, corporations, foundations, and high-value volunteers
• Assist donors in creating expansive programmatic offerings and institutional philanthropy through giving to the American Red Cross
• Implement fundraising strategy and manage an assigned donor portfolio to maximize revenue growth and donor engagement
• Solicit corporations, individuals, and foundations with seven-figure+ donor capacity and propensity
• Partner with field fundraisers under a shared credit model
• Develop relationships with families, foundation decision-makers, and C-suite contacts
• Secure meetings, make presentations, prepare proposals, and directly solicit donors
• Collaborate with departments and development staff at national and regional offices
• Compile and analyze portfolio account data to develop solicitation strategy
• Recruit high-net-worth donors to support the American Red Cross
• Report to the Vice President of Transformational Giving

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related discipline required
• Minimum 10 years of fundraising and/or sales experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required
• Extensive knowledge of fundraising and/or sales principles and techniques in large organizations
• Successful track record in the solicitation of large amounts of funds
• Excellent organizational, collaborative, analytical, presentation, and communication (interpersonal, oral, and written) skills
• Good project management skills and ability to meet deadlines
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Knowledge of fundraising database systems (e.g. Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce.com)
• Ability to work on a team
• Current, valid driver's license and good driving record required
• Ability to travel 25%–50% for business may be required
