Job summary

The Jewish Federation of Cincinnati is seeking a Philanthropic Advisor for Donor-Advised Funds to lead the growth and stewardship of our DAF program, cultivate relationships with existing donors and prospects, and help secure principal, planned, and legacy gifts in support of the Jewish community.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Philanthropic Advisor, Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs) at the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati (JFC) reports to the Director of Philanthropic Planning, to lead the enhancement and implementation of programs to increase the quality and quantity of Jewish philanthropy. The Philanthropic Advisor for DAFs is responsible for cultivating relationships with existing donors and prospects that are capable of making principal gifts towards, or deferred financial gifts, to benefit the Jewish Community and beyond through a DAF, endowment fund, legacy planning, or otherwise. This individual is responsible for stewarding DAF donors and their philanthropic goals, while working to secure gifts and gift commitments as part of JFC’s Total Giving strategy, including Annual Campaign, Directed Giving supporting community agencies, and planned gifts. This position is responsible for implementing and overseeing:

• Cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of DAF holders, other stakeholders, and approximately 75 donors under management.
• Recruitment of new DAF holders.
• Daily operations of DAFs and DAFs grant approval process including reporting and technical components of the DAF platform.
• Investment policy and tax benefits related to DAFs and other giving vehicles.
• Oversight of JFC’s Investment Committee, working with an OCIO model.
• Life insurance program management.
• Ongoing solicitations for Annual Campaign, Directed Giving, and Legacy Giving.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Manage and grow the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati's Donor Advised Fund (DAF) program through donor and prospect cultivation, marketing initiatives, relationship management, and educational presentations.
• Partner with donors and their successors to maximize philanthropic impact, including developing endowment agreements, the creation of gift agreements, promoting directed giving opportunities, and supporting planned and legacy gift strategies.
• Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with professional advisors, including attorneys, accountants, and financial planners, to encourage DAF and endowment fund establishment within the Jewish community.
• Support Federation fundraising priorities by contributing to the Annual Campaign, coordinating donor solicitations, and advancing Federation's Total Giving strategy.
• Oversee DAF grantmaking processes, including conducting due diligence, coordinating with donors, community agencies, legal and financial representatives, and the Finance & Administration Committee to ensure compliance and donor intent fulfillment.
• Maintain accurate donor records and timely communications, including grant acknowledgments and tracking all donor and prospect interactions in Microsoft Dynamics; attend meetings, events, and occasional evening or weekend functions.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree required; JD and CAP® preferred.
• 10+ years of professional experience, including but not limited to nonprofit and fundraising proficiency.
• Experience with donor-advised funds strongly preferred.
• Team player with high energy and passion for the mission.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Detail oriented; ability to multitask and meet deadlines, work independently and collaboratively, as required.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and operate with discretion.
• Competent in all Microsoft Office Suite of Products.
• Knowledge of Jewish community culture, heritage and traditions.
