Job summary

Big Science Sweden is seeking a motivated PhD Student for High-field THz Sources and THz Science. This part-time role (29.25 hrs/week) will be hosted collaboratively by the Lasers group and the Femtosecond X-ray Experiments (FXE). You'll work on developing novel THz and mid-IR light sources, aiming to address complex scientific questions in THz and X-ray science.

The project aligns with European XFEL’s strategy to broaden its scientific scope and contributes to advancements in strong-field THz science. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in experimental physics, particularly in THz technologies.

Qualifications

  • Enrollment in a PhD program related to THz or laser science.
  • Experience in experimental physics, particularly with THz sources.
  • Knowledge of ultrafast optics and strong-field physics will be beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Develop THz and mid-IR light sources to enhance scientific research capabilities.
  • Collaborate with the Lasers group and FXE team on research projects.
  • Conduct experiments and analyze data pertaining to THz-driven phenomena.
