Job summary

FemtoMAX is an ultrafast beamline on the Short Pulse Facility at MAX IV, focusing on femtosecond time-resolved X-ray techniques to study the structural dynamics of materials. You will join a team of scientists and research engineers who are developing the capabilities and performance of the beamline which is currently within its commissioning phase of development.

We are looking for highly motivated scientists to complement our team.

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant subject (physics, chemistry, materials science).
• Minimum 5 years of ultrafast laser-pump / hard X-ray probe experiments at large-scale facilities.
• Minimum 5 years data analysis with Matlab and/or Python.
• Knowledge of non-linear optics, THz generation, THz characterization and laser beam diagnostics.
• Experience with laser timing tools (cross-correlator, streak camera).
• Experience in performing THz pump / X-ray probe studies.
• Design and/or simulation software: Solidworks, Comsol.
• You are cultivating an inclusive and respectful workplace environment.
• Excellent command of English (written and oral).

You will join a team of scientists and research engineers who are developing the capabilities and performance of the beamline which is currently within its commissioning phase of development. We are looking for highly motivated scientists to complement our team.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Maintaining the laser systems and laser diagnostics at FemtoMAX.
• Developing THz capabilities and performance of the beamline.
• Developing laser timing tools.
• Contribute to the research, dissemination and educational activities at FemtoMAX.

To succeed in this role you need to have the following qualifications:
