Job summary

Exponent is seeking an Electrical Engineer/Scientist (Ph.D.) to join our Electrical Engineering & Computer Science Practice in Chicago, IL. The role involves solving challenging, multi-disciplinary technical problems for clients in power systems, renewable energy, and consumer products.

You will design, test, and analyze electrical systems, generate technical reports, and present findings to diverse audiences while shaping your own consulting practice based on interests and expertise.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with electronics hardware and/or software development.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Ability to work independently or in multidisciplinary teams and the ability to support multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience designing, constructing, and performing tests in a laboratory setting.
• Ability to gather information and convey technical conclusions to individuals in engineering, business, and related industry.
• Presently legally authorized to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship or processing required.

Responsibilities

• Performing electrical engineering consulting related to ongoing Exponent work including power systems, renewable energy, residential, commercial and industrial equipment; electrical work practices; control systems; battery systems; consumer products; and electrical installations
• Generating and performing testing protocols in both laboratory and field settings
• Working to answer questions like: why a system failed, what could have prevented an issue, how can a product or equipment be made safer
• Communicating technical information to diverse audiences, including preparation of technical reports and presentations
