Job summary

Environmental Design International seeks a Geologist or Environmental Scientist with at least three years of relevant experience to join the Environmental Department in the Chicago area. Under supervision, you will assist with field investigations, data collection, and report preparation, while coordinating with project managers and subcontractors.

Responsibilities include safety training, parameter-specific field work, and assisting with proposals.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or higher in geology, environmental science, or related field is required.
• Minimum 3 years relevant experience in geology or environmental science.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass drug screening are required.
• Flexibility to perform field work and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide field work and support including soil, surface water, and groundwater sampling.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, work plans, and manage subcontractors.
• Maintain required safety training and OSHA HAZWOPER certification.
• Support Environmental Department activities and SOPs.
• Develop knowledge of applicable regulations (Phase I/II ESA, IEPA programs).
• Progress to greater project responsibility under supervision.
• Obtain and maintain additional Illinois environmental licenses as required.
