Overview

University Correctional Healthcare (UCHC) in Trenton, NJ is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support the correctional unit dose drug distribution system.

Responsibilities

• Accurately profile medication orders into the pharmacy information system, ensuring outpatient prescriptions are correctly entered and medications delivered to the appropriate units.
  • Confirm correct drug, strength, dosage form, and quality.
• Prepare controlled substance requests from nursing units for verification by the Registered Pharmacist.
  • Document additions and deletions of controlled substances with appropriate signatures.
  • Correctly total and document the running balance of controlled substances.
  • Log returns and process DEA returns.
• Prepare requests and restock nursing units with floor stock medications and supplies.
  • Fill floor stock with the correct medication, strength, and dosage form.
  • Ensure quantities do not exceed established par levels.
  • Deliver floor stock and internal requisitions to nursing units on the same shift they are received.
• Reorder pharmacy supplies from approved vendors.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• At least one (1) year of pharmacy experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
• Registered Pharmacy Technician with the New Jersey State Board of Pharmacy.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with patients with behavioral issues.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of psychiatric medications.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Must be approved by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and adhere to all DOC requirements.
