Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Trainee to join our hospital team in Rhode Island. The program provides formal training, didactic coursework, simulations, and hands-on practice under pharmacist supervision.

Participants will prepare for the National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) and work toward licensure milestones. Responsibilities include assisting pharmacists, supporting inventory control, delivering medications, and maintaining accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• High-school graduate or equivalent or currently enrolled in program
• Must be eighteen (18) or older
• Must obtain Rhode Island Pharmacist Technician I licensure before training begins
• After training, sit for CPhT exam and obtain certification within six months

Responsibilities

• Participates in Brown University Health Pharmacy Technician Training Program
• Completes coursework and hands-on training totaling 400+ hours
• Assists in inventory management and distribution to ADCs
• Delivers medications to patient care areas and operating rooms
• Maintains neat, organized pharmacy areas and proper storage conditions
• Adheres to USP guidelines and NIOSH guidelines and hospital procedures
• Responds to phone inquiries and maintains customer service presence
