Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Working toward licensed technician certification through a certified national program required.
• Previous experience as a pharmacy clerk preferred.
• Vaccination certification required if administering vaccines, as required by law.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile and learning their names.
• Handle inquiries that do not require a pharmacist's expertise.
• Accept new prescriptions and refills under supervision.
• Contact doctors to request refills as needed.
• Gather and maintain patient information for prescriptions.
• Assist pharmacists in preparing prescription products for dispensing.
• Prepare and label prescriptions and prepare for mailing.
• Submit insurance claims and assist with third‑party billing.
• File prescriptions after dispensing and report medication errors.
• Stock pharmacy supplies and log invoices.
• Perform cash transactions accurately.
• Administer vaccines as allowed by law, with required certification.
• Maintain cleanliness of the pharmacy and HIPAA privacy.
