Job summary

UPMC Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh is hiring a full-time Pharmacy Technician/Trainee for their outpatient pharmacy, Pint Size. All experience levels are welcomed and encouraged to apply.

Both titles offer a $5,000 sign-on bonus and a 40-hour work week with varied shifts including mornings and some weekend coverage. Responsibilities include filling medication orders, supporting medication preparation, and participating in distribution and inventory.

Qualifications

• Completion of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• For Pennsylvania locations, registration as a Pharmacy Trainee with the State Board of Pharmacy is required.
• Pharmacy Technician: completion of an accredited program or six months of experience, or enrollment in a pharmacy program.

Responsibilities

• Assist in filling medication orders through labeling, counting, stocking, and documentation.
• Support preparation of medications for correct patient and administration time using proper technique and safety standards.
• Participate in medication distribution and use of automated dispensing systems as assigned.
• Retrieve discontinued medications and credit them to the appropriate area when needed.
• Maintain clean, organized, and stocked work areas.
• Provide information to hospital personnel, patients, and visitors while routing drug questions to a pharmacist.
• Ensure medications are stored safely and securely per regulatory requirements.
• Use pharmacy computer systems to process patient information, inventory, and records.
• Maintain logs and inventory records and comply with HIPAA, OSHA, CMS and related rules.
• Assist with inventory management, automated systems, and quality improvement activities.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

PA State Board Pharmacy Trainee registration

Pharmacy technician program completion or enrollment in undergraduate pharmacy program
