Job summary

UPMC Community Pharmacy at UPMC East Hospital is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Technician to support outpatient operations. You will fill retail prescriptions, maintain inventory, and assist in bedside delivery as part of the UPMC Retail Pharmacy Network.

The role offers a Monday–Friday schedule during daytime hours, opportunities to train students, and a commitment to HIPAA and regulatory compliance. Prior retail experience translates well, and recent graduates are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Completion of high school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program.
• Six months of previous pharmacy technician experience or related role.

Responsibilities

• Procure and maintain adequate inventory levels daily.
• Assist in preparing medications including sterile products.
• Distribute medications to relevant units and departments.
• Finalize sales using cash register and follow cash handling policies.
• Ensure medications are stored securely per regulations.
• Support training of staff and students.
• Comply with HIPAA, OSHA, and PBM requirements.
• Prepare oral and injectable medications with proper aseptic technique.
• Maintain accurate controlled substance records and documentation.
