Job summary

UPMC Shadyside is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Technician to support sterile and nonsterile medication prep, dispensing, and distribution. The role involves operating pharmacy automation, assisting with triage and reconciliation, and cross-training across departments.

Applicants will be placed on the Pharmacy Career Ladder based on experience and education. A $5,000 sign-on bonus with a 2-year commitment is offered to selected candidates.

Qualifications

• Provides pharmaceutical care with sterile and nonsterile medication prep.
• Assists with filling and distribution of medications per regulations.
• Operates pharmacy automation and supports triage and reconciliation.
• Cross-trained to work across multiple department areas.
• Maintains accurate records and patient information per policy.
• Complies with HIPAA and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist in filling medication orders with correct labeling, counting and stocking.
• Prepare oral and injectable medications, including IV admixtures and TPN.
• Work in sterile products, including cytotoxic and hazardous drugs using aseptic technique.
• Distribute medications via cassettes and carts; handle controlled substances safely.
• Maintain inventory levels and ensure proper storage per regulations.
• Utilize computer systems to process patient information and documentation.
