UPMC Memorial is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Technician to join a fast-paced team. The role involves preparing and delivering medications, filling orders, and maintaining accurate patient records.

Responsibilities include sterile compound preparation, medication distribution, and adherence to state and federal regulations. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with options for further certification or experience within the UPMC system.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Option 1: completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program.
• Option 2: six months of pharmacy technician experience.
• Option 3: six months as a Pharmacy Assistant within the UPMC Health System or enrollment in an undergraduate pharmacy program in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Filling: assist in filling medication orders with correct labeling, counting and stocking, and initial and date products as required.
• Prepare proper oral and injectable medications (including IV admixtures and TPN) for the correct patient at the correct time.
• Maintain aseptic technique in sterile product preparation, including cytotoxic and hazardous drugs.
• Distribute medications and manage medication cassettes, carts, and controlled substances per policy and law.
• Retrieve discontinued medications and ensure proper return or credit.
